"I create mixed media works, usually of abstract imagery and amorphous forms, to address concepts relating to the impermanence of life and the societal apprehension of mortality. As a shared human experience, death, and great loss, are topics not easily breached in conversation. I utilize color palettes of gold, red, black, and white--inspired by religious imagery--to achieve the levels of holiness as described above. Precious materials are juxtaposed with organic ones to act as signifiers of the ephemeral life. Organic forms are paired with embroidery as punched holes balance the intense concepts and stability that each of us tries to achieve with the chaos of life."
