About The Artist
Crystal Gale Phelps is an artist and curator whose work focuses on the nexus of humor and body politics. She is a 2017 Master of Fine Arts recipient from Maine College of Art and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from Arizona State University in 2008. Phelps’ performances and works on paper are featured nationally, in both public and private institutions including the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum (Mesa, AZ), Modified Arts (Phoenix, AZ), and River House Arts (Toledo, OH). Curatorial projects range from the large scale (The Arts Commission's Momentum Festival, with 22,000 attendees over a weekend) to the tiny (Co-Worker Gallery, located in the corner of a shared office, showcasing exhibitions of two artists). Phelps is currently based in Toledo, OH.
